Jake Gosling is a Brit / MPG and Grammy Award nominated Multi-Platinum Selling Music Producer/Songwriter/Remixer best known for his work with artists such as Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Paloma Faith, James Bay, Christina Perri and All Time Low. Jake runs his own studio, Sticky Studios, in Surrey. He is signed to BDi Music alongside his venture publishing company, The Movement, which was established in 2009 with co-founder, Sarah Liversedge [Managing Director and owner of BDi Music]. The Movement nurtures and develops breaking urban producers and writers within the music industry. Jake started playing in bands at college and usually ended up producing the bands he was in so it made complete sense to make it his full-time profession. Jake is multi talented - he has been lead singer in many bands and also plays keys, drums, accordion, melodian and percussion but, making 'beats' and playing with samples is what he does best. Jake likes to use a mix of analogue with digital, mixing old sounds with new technologies, by ripping up vinyl, sampling and creating his own unique sound. It is important to him that the 'vibe' is strong and he has a great understanding of how to work with up-and-coming artists and established professionals. . Jake has an extensive back-catalogue of hit songs ranging from Pop and Singer-Songwriter ballads through to Grime and R&B/Urban tracks. Since 2009, he has immersed himself in the urban scene and has become a pivotal producer and songwriter in this genre. He has co-written and produced with the God of Grime, Wiley and he has played an integral role in developing new artists such as Scorcher, Mikall Pane, Jelluzz and Fugative. Jake has also produced official remixes for Lady Gaga, Timbaland, Keri Hilson and Nelly Furtado under his remixer pseudonym, Sketch Iz Dead. Between 2009 - 2011, his attention was mostly focussed on the truly brilliant, Ed Sheeran. Jake is now well known for being Ed Sheeran's right hand man, record producer. Sarah Liversedge introduced Jake and Ed to each other and from that point onwards they were a match made in heaven. Their first independent success arrived in early 2011 with 'The No 5 Collaborations Project' which featured urban artists: Wiley, Wretch 32, P Money, JME, Dot Rotten and Devlin. This ground breaking EP/Album reached number 2 on the iTunes album chart within its first day of release challenging no other than Rihanna for top spot! Jake was producer and co-writer on this project. Following the success of "The No 5 Collaborations project", Jake was snapped up by Asylum Records, a subsidary of Atlantic Records, to produce and co-write on Ed's debut 5 times platinum album "+". It charted at No.1 in the Official UK Album Chart in September 2011, going gold in October 2011 and the first single from the platinum selling album, "The A Team", went straight in at No.3 in the UK singles chart - 'The A Team' which is also now platinum status and in the USA hit No.10 in the billboard charts. He has been named Music Week's No.1 Top Producer 0f 2012. He also produced 'Moment' and 'Little Things' for One Direction's top selling album 'Take Me Home' - 'Little Things' reached No.1 in the UK Charts - the album has been No.1 in over 20 countries. Jake has attended many songwriter camps around the world in conjunction with his publishers, BDi Music, Bucks Music Group and the major record labels. In 2012 Jake completed work on the soundtrack to a new British feature film "Twenty8K" in collaboration with British film composer, Ruth Barrett, also published by BDi Music. The film is produced by Formosa Films in association with legendary screen writer, Paul Abbott was released in UK on 1st October 2012. Jake has drawn from his strong contacts within the UK urban music scene, to bring artists such as Ghettz, Roxxxan, Smiler, Random Impulse and Mikill Pane into the film. Jake just finished producing the single b side and album track for One Direction. His recent writing collaborations include Ed Sheeran [Warners], Professor Green [Virgin], Yelawolf [signed to Eminem's Shady Records] and Paloma Faith [Sony]. In 2013 Jake produced and co-wrote albums for Mikill Pane, ‘Blame It On Miss Barclay’ [Mercury Records] and Nina Nesbitt, ‘Peroxide’ [Island Records]. Later end of 2013 he produced USA artist, Christina Perri’s single and album. 2014 has seen the return of Ed Sheeran – Jake produced 7 tracks on the NO.1 album, X [UK/USA and 65 other countries WW]. ‘Lego House’ has now sold over 1 million copies . Jake also produced Ed’s No.1 single, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ which has created history for being the first single to remain in the UK chart for 1 year, seeling so far nearly 1.4 million units in the UK alone. 2015, has seen Jake conquer the charts again with a co-written featured track ‘Incomplete’ on James Bay’s No.1 debut album , ‘Chaos and The Calm’ along with a further co-written featured track ‘Missing You’ on USA rock boy band, All Time Low’s No.1 UK album. Jake has just returned from 2 months in Thailand producing the long awaited Libertine’s third album, ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ which is due for release on 2nd September 2015 [Virgin/Emi Records]. The single, ‘Ginga Dun’ is released 3rd July 2015
With a First-Class music degree, Sarah’s career blossomed initially at the BBC: starting out as a TV Floor Manager moving to Researcher and then to Liaison Executive to Heading up the Music Publishing division at BBCWW. In 2004, Sarah set up her own independent music publishing company, BDi Music which, 20 years later, is a thriving, multi-million pound business garnered with Ivor Novello, BAFTA, RTS and Kerrang Awards. BDi owns and controls a highly reputable & valuable catalogue of songs including over 30 Ed Sheeran co-writes. Sarah is also Director A&R at Bucks Music Group, Director of The Movement London and Board Director of The Music Publishers Association Ireland. Sarah is one of the key industry advisers on the PRS Foundation Momentum Fund. Sarah tirelessly develops the careers of unbeatable, innovative and creative Artists, Producers and Songwriters.
